Nokia’s first high-end phablet, the Lumia 1520, is now available for purchase in the United Kingdom. The prepaid, SIM-free smartphone is available for £550. Online retailers such as Clove and Unlocked Mobiles are already selling phablet, along with the high-street store Phones 4U.
At £550, the Lumia 1520 is obviously not an affordable smartphone, but it’s pretty much the only big-screen Windows Phone 8 smartphone available in the market. Those who are willing to spend that amount of money won’t be disappointed with the Lumia 1520. Its 6-inch 1080p display is surely something to behold and there’s a source of significant power inside the phone, in the form of Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core chip.
The Lumia 1520 directly competes with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. The Sony Xperia Z Ultra has a larger 6.44-inch display, but users can take the phone in the bath, because it has waterproofed chassis. All of them are similarly expensive though. If users don’t mind looking a bit silly making a voice call with 7-inch tablet, they can get the cheaper £180 Asus Fonepad.
Overall, the Nokia Lumia 1520 could catch the fancy of people with voluptuous delight for gigantic smartphones.
