The Amber Update for prepaid Windows Phone 8 devices has been available for additional Nokia Lumia models in the UK. It was first available for the prepaid Lumia 520 available from Vodafone, O2 and EE (Everything Everywhere). However, the update is still waiting for approval from the Three UK, which likely means that the Amber Update is undergoing final test.
The update is also available for the Lumia 620 from Three UK, Vodafone, Virgin Mobile and O2. For the time being, only Lumia 720 from O2 is eligible for the update. Finally, the Amber Update is also available for Lumia 820 and Lumia 920 from Vodafone, O2 and EE.
The update offers some significant enhancements to Lumia’s camera app, especially the improved low-light image capture, noise filter and autofocus. To maintain acceptable standards, Nokia doesn’t release the Amber update simultaneously to all Lumia devices. Also, to make sure they don’t miss out the update, prepaid subscribers in the UK should enable the “Tell me when updates are available for my phone” entry found in Settings>Phone Update.
