According to its recent announcement, Nokia has confirmed that prepaid subscribers in the United Kingdom get the Lumia 1020 from September 12 onwards. The Finland-based company unveiled the high-end Windows Phone 8 device in July and it has been available in various regions, including the United States.
Prepaid subscribers can apply for a pre-order from the Phones4U. The O2 UK has also posted the Lumia 1020 in its online catalogue and it will work on PAYG plan. A defining feature of the phone should be the PureView camera, which offers a whopping 41Mp resolution.
Its 4.5-inch (1280 x 768) AMOLED PureMotion HD+ with its 332ppi of pixel density could rival iPhone 5S’ Retina Display. The 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, Adreno 225 GPU and 2GB of RAM trio may look somewhat underpowered compared to hardware specs of latest Android devices, but Windows Phone 8 OS seems to utilize hardware resources more efficiently.
Not all Lumia models are made available for the UK market. As an example, Nokia UK hasn’t listed the Lumia 928 in its official website and the company doesn’t seem to have a plan to release the device in this country.
