It appears that the global roll out of the Android 4.4 KitKat update for Samsung Galaxy S4 will commence very soon, possibly in 2014. The same update has been recently rolled out to the Google Play Edition of HTC One, just a couple of hours after posted the source on the HTCDev website. However, Samsung hasn’t delivered Android 4.4 KitKat updated for its Google Play Edition Galaxy S4 device. The company doesn’t typically offer any information on software roll outs, so we need to actively keep an eye on new leaks.
According to leaked documents, Samsung is set to roll out the Android 4.4 update in January 2014 for the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3. The new build should be applicable for prepaid phones, off-contract variants of these phones. So, it’s safe to assume that users of prepaid Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 will get the update at about the same time.
However, it appears that users of prepaid Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 3 in the UK need to wait much longer, probably between March and April next year. This isn’t surprising, because Samsung is facing troubles with Android 4.3 update for the international version of Galaxy S3. They even need to stop delivering the update after receiving a large amount of reports.
