The partnership between SK Telecom and Samsung has allowed the commercial availability of LTE Advanced technology to become a reality. A few days ago, Samsung launched a highly improved version of Galaxy S4 with LTE-A support and the newer Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor.
Theoretically, the smartphone is able to hit 150MBps download speeds and that’s really fast for a consumer-level wireless data connectivity. The South Korean carrier said that it will have seven LTE-A devices by the end of the year and one of them could be the Apple iPhone 5S.
According to some sources, SK Telecom is negotiating a possibility for adding iPhone 5S with LTE-A capability into its network. It’s not clear whether they have sealed the deal, but there’s no reason for Apple to skip this opportunity. The new LTE-Advanced technology is not only faster, but it’s also able to distribute data very efficiently. Additionally, the support for carrier aggregation improves latency and increases network speeds.
