The Virgin Mobile recently published a new webpage for the ZTE Reef, a budget Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) smartphone. Priced at just £96 users will get the 4-inch WVGA display, 1GHz single-core processor, 1GB of RAM, VGA front-facing camera and 5Mp rear-facing camera with 720p video recording.
There are also Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, microSD card slot and 1650mAh battery to round of the specifications list. While the specs sheet won’t easily impress anyone, the Reef still has one major selling point for Virgin Mobile’s subscribers. It is the carrier’s first smartphone with waterproofing capability.
The IP67 certification assures us that the phone would survive in one meter of water for 30 minutes. Otherwise, the device is quite an entry-level and some users may even say that it’s overpriced, considering the slower processor. However, Virgin Mobile is likely to offer a discount after selling the ZTE Reef for a few months.
