While not as imposing as its larger 5-inch sibling, the Sony Xperia SP still looks sizable with its 4.6” display and 720p resolution. Weighing in at 155 grams and at 10mm thick, the SP won’t be any kind of design awards for svelteness. Around the back, there’s an 8Mp Sony Exmor RS rear-facing camera, paired with LED flash.
On the inside, we are mostly dealing mid-range hardware specs, which deliver decent performance level. The SP comes with 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, Adreno 320 GPU and 8GB of onboard storage, of which only less than 5.5GB is available for users. Connectivity-wise, we are looking at standard options, including Bluetooth 4.0, 3G, LTE and WiFi.
At the core of its software platform, the SP runs an early Jelly Bean version, the Android 4.1.2. Packing a 2370mAh battery, the handset should run throughout the day with instant messages, social updates and emails synced in the background. Orange UK is currently offering the Sony Xperia SP for £299.99 with £10 top up.
