Prepaid Huawei Ascend P6 won’t be getting the latest release of Jelly Bean (Android 4.3) update ever, instead users will directly benefit from the newer Android 4.4 KitKat. Users in China will receive the update first, followed by those in the UK probably a few weeks later. Apart from Google itself; Sony, Motorola and HTC have confirmed the release of Android 4.4 update.
The Huawei Ascend P6 is configured like a mid-tier smartphone with its 4.7-inch 720p display. 1.5GHz K3V2 quad-core processor, 5Mp front-facing camera, 8Mp rear-facing camera, 2GB of RAM, microSD card slot, 8GB of internal storage, GPS, Bluetooth, WiFi and 3G data connectivity. The phone was once the thinnest smartphone in the industry, at just 6.18mm and it is reasonable light too, weighing in at only 120 grams.
The P6 was a huge success in China, totaling two million devices in China alone. On launch, the phone is skinned with Huawei’s Emotion UI version 1.6, which means that the company could still be working to put custom overlay on top of the stock Android 4.4. Google’s new software update would bring new enhancements, such as better performance for low-resource devices, translucent user interface, wireless printing and integrated screen recording.
