The Android smartphone market in the UK has just got a bit more cramped after the local startup, Kazam unveiled seven new devices. The company simply rebadges Chinese-made devices with a logo and adds some after-sales extra features. Kazam has launched an initial lineup consisted of seven prepaid devices in the United Kingdom. The company was established by a couple of former executives of HTC UK.
The Trooper range is a more mainstream focused family with five different phone models. Kazam uses a rather straightforward naming scheme for these devices, which correspond to display size, the X5.5, X5.0, X4.5, X4.0 and X3.5. Kazam also offers assistance to set up these devices and diagnose issues as after sales support.
The Thunder range would appeal more to techies who look for more affordable devices. The Q4.5 is equipped with 4.5-inch FWVGA display, 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS. So, the phone won’t compete with flagship Android models on multiple areas.
Kazam will also soon release the larger Q5.0, possibly with 5-inch display and better screen resolution. Butterfingered users in the UK may benefit from one year’s of display replacement. There’s also support for microSD card slots, removable battery and dual-SIM slots.
