Expectations were high that a shrunken down version of the Sony Xperia Z1 will get unveiled on last Tuesday during a Sony event in Shanghai, especially after the Xperia Z1s made a brief appearance on Sony’s official website on Monday. Unfortunately, the image was pulled and we haven’t gotten any official word about the Z1s until today.
Typically, miniaturized versions of high-end smartphone don’t elicit much of a positive response, because they are often watered down model with less capable processor, smaller amount of system memory and less capable imaging sensor. However, Sony outfits the Xperia Z1 with nearly the same hardware configuration than the full-fledged Sony Xperia Z1.
Compared to its larger sibling, the Z1s will have 4.3-inch 720p display and 2300mAh battery, instead of 5-inch 1080o display and 3000mAh battery. On the back, users can still find the 20.7Mp rear-facing camera. Fortunately, the Amazon UK gives us a hint on the possible arrival date of the Xperia Z1s.
A case made by Kolay will be available through the online retailer on November 26 for just £0.25. Again, information on Amazon’s page could only be placeholders with no real predictive value at all and there’s no guarantee that the Xperia Z1s will arrive on the UK on November 26.
